Integrated Biometrics Announces New TFT (Thin Film Transistor) Technology

Integrated Biometrics Thin film Transistor Technology Integrated Biometrics has combined its LES film technology with a TFT to create a winning combination. The new products will be super thin (400 microns) and work in conjunction with IB’s award winning algorithms to produce world class, light weight and compact finger print sensors.

Currently in development, the technology will enable industry leading small form factors and be geared toward mobile and hand held applications.

TFT sensors using the combination of IB’s  patented LES film which emits a photo image of a finger print when it comes in contact with the film and the thin film transistor image array sensor,  works seamlessly with IB’s image processing and matching algorithms. Additional circuitry will be connected to the TFT sensor assembly to provide image storage, matching and connectivity to external systems.

The TFT technology employed enables huge benefits including:

  • Super Thin – Less than 400 microns thick when matched with IB’s LES Film
  • Light Weight – the entire assembly including USB circuit board will weigh less than 100 grams
  • Accurate – With 60,000 transistors per square inch and 500 dpi resolution, the system will work in direct sunlight, with dirty or clean fingers in a wide variety of environmental conditions.
  • Enables mobility:  the combined benefits will make IB’s new products the world’s most mobile scanner
